At our twelfth and final summer meeting for 2008 we watched Live Action City Hunter.  "Private eye Ryu Saeba is hired to find the runaway daughter of a Japanese publishing tycoon. Ryu's first impulse is to turn the job down - until he sees a picture of the beautiful Shizuko. Hot on her heels, Ryu tracks her down on board a cruise ship, and much to the annoyance of his jealous female sidekick Kaori. The womanizing Ryu seems more interested in catching Shizuko's attention than returning her safely to her father. However, Ryu's romantic plans quickly go astray when a gang of ruthless criminals hijack the ship and hold the passengers to ransom. To save the day Ryu swings into action to dispatch the bad guys and rescue the gorgeous Shizuko!"

Thanks to all those who attended and made the fourth year of summer meetings a smashing success.  Hope you all had a good time and see you in the fall! - The officers of BUMAC

At our eleventh summer meeting we watched Kite Liberator and Dragon Half.

Overview Kite Liberator: “The teenage assassin Sawa discovered the man behind her parents deaths was her own her foster-father the police detective Akai. She murdered him. Years later her whereabouts are still unknown.  The story of a new killer has begun to circulate around the city. She is called the Angel of Death. She eliminates her targets with grace and precision and then vanishes without a trace into the darkness.  By day the Angel of Death wears a different face the face of Monaka an ordinary high school girl. But she seems so delicate and sensitive can it really all be an act? Her past is tied with Akai and her fate is a duel to the death with the one man who can protect her, the one she loves most. Which heart is real? The icy heart of the Angel of Death or the kind heart of Monaka?”

Overview Dragon Half: “You think your adolescence was challenged? Consider poor Mink. Her dad's a famous Dragon Slayer and her Mom's a dragon. While that does have the advantage of making her abnormally strong it's also left her with a cute pair of wings and a big green tail! Oh yes and horns. Try explaining that your prom date! And to complicate things even more Mink's got the hots for Dick Saucer a fabulously popular pop idol who also happens to be a professional dragon killer. Big romantic complication!”

At our tenth summer meeting we watched My-Hime.

Overview: “Before coming to the Fuka Academy, all Mai Tokiha wanted was to live an ordinary high school life, but that's the last thing she's going to get. It turns out that Mai is a HiME, one of twelve girls with super-natural powers that are gathered at this school to fight the Orphans, demons that dwell around the school. A secret organization has other plans for the HiME than just demon-busting and Mai and the other HiME will have to risk something precious to protect the ones they love.”

At our ninth summer meeting we watched H2O: Footprints in the Sand.

Overview from Wikipedia: “H2O's story revolves around Takuma Hirose, a blind young male junior-high school student, though the cause for his blindness is undetermined. After his mother died an unexpected death, it left a deep emotional scar on him, which caused him to become very lonely and reserved. Due to this, Takuma and his uncle move from the city out into a rural area and Takuma is enrolled into a new junior-high school. At his new school, he meets several new girls, though three of whom he gets to know the most out of anyone else. They are, the firm and obstinate Hayami Kohinata, the kind and obliging Hinata Kagura, and the cheerful and mysterious Otoha. As Takuma interacts with these girls, his medical condition gradually begins to heal.”

At our eighth summer meeting we watched Kiddy Grade.

Overview: “In Star Century Zero-One-Sixty-Five the Global Union was born. To provide an impartial mediator to the various planetary governments of the G.U. the Galactic Organization of Trade and Tariffs or G.O.T.T. was simultaneously formed to settle economic disputes amongst the member planets. Existing in the shadows of the G.O.T.T. the ES Force serves as the G.O.T.T.'s primary law enforcement organization. ES Force members Eclair and Lumiere are on the front line pursuing all manner of criminals and bringing them to justice.  This is their story.”
